AEP Alert

Dear Member:

As an Accredited Estate Planner® and leader within the estate planning community, we request approximately 10 minutes of your time to complete an Expert Research Questionnaire, the link for which appears below.   In appreciation of your time, we will have a random drawing of all who complete the survey and The Stelter Company will make a $1,000 donation to the nonprofit of the winner's choice!

This survey offers you an opportunity to make a significant impact on our ongoing efforts to increase estate and financial awareness within the nonprofit community and among practitioners within the financial services communities. Our goal is 100% participation among the AEP® membership! Your assistance is most appreciated.

The findings from the Expert Research Questionnaire will:

  1. Help us better understand the relationships between advisors, donors, and nonprofits with regard to charitable giving;
  2. Assist in offering a better understanding of how advisors and nonprofits interact with one another with regard to donors making charitable decisions;
  3. Identify barriers to contributions, bequests, and planned giving;
  4. Provide advisors and nonprofits with guidance on how to increase financial awareness, charitable gifts, and planned giving amongst current and potential charitable donors.

The findings of this research project will be the second of a three-step process to fully understand how advisors, donors, and nonprofits interact with one another. Last year we focused on the donors, this year the advisors, and next year, the final leg, addressing the nonprofit community!

Selzer & Company (www.selzerco.com), a leading public opinion research firm, assisted in setting up the questionnaire and will also compile the survey results.  Selzer & Company conducted the initial research project last year to better understand donors titled "What Makes Them Give?", a copy of which can be found at www.stelter.com/downloadreport.html.

The findings of this research project will initially be presented at the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning National Conference on Philanthropic Planning in October, and then to AEP® designees, affiliated local estate planning councils and their membership, and the professional community at-large during National Estate Planning Awareness Week.

We truly believe that as an AEP® you are the most qualified estate planning professional to help us obtain accurate and meaningful data on how advisors interface with donors and potential donors. Please join us in completing the Expert Research Questionnaire today!
