Dear Fellow Designee:

Summer is in full swing here in Texas as I hope it is for you where you reside! While our thoughts typically turn to other activities and events during the summer months, there are several things going on at NAEPC that I want to be sure to share with you. If you have not read the most recent issue of NAEPC News, I encourage you to do so at your leisure—it contains a wealth of information about all of the "happenings" at NAEPC, the highlights of which I will share with you here.

Perhaps the most exciting new development is the acceptance of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation as a qualifying credential to obtain the AEP® designation. We welcome your referrals and encourage you to share this information with those you know who hold the CFA designation. Remember, every applicant for the AEP® designation must meet all program requirements, complete the application in its entirety, and agree to comply with all ongoing recertification requirements as well as the NAEPC Code of Ethics.

Nominations for the NAEPC Board of Directors are being accepted until Friday, June 30th. The ideal candidate is either a past president or current officer of an affiliated local council, has attended at least two annual conferences, and has served on one or more committee of the NAEPC. Those who are interested should contact the national office for more information and to obtain a copy of the application.

We are also excited to share information with you for our "sister" organization, the Estate Law Specialist Board. In partnership with the Notre Dame Tax & Estate Planning Institute, the Estate Law Specialist Board offers attorneys a unique opportunity to participate in a live review course and proctored exam to earn the Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) certification, which is the only national board certification in estate planning. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 on campus at the Notre Dame Law School from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and will be followed by the two-hour proctored exam that begins at 2:00 pm. If you are an attorney who is interested in learning more about the EPLS certification the live review course and exam, and the remainder of the program requirements, please contact our national office.

I hope to meet you in person at the Annual NAEPC Advanced Estate Planning Strategies Conference, scheduled from November 15-17th in New Orleans. Please join me, our board, and your fellow AEP® designees for what is sure to be a great time and an exceptional educational event! Remember to register by September 29th to receive the early bird discount!

Best wishes,

Julie Buschman
