JOHN A. WALLACE
Wallace, Morrison & Casteel LLPJohn A. Wallace
is a partner in Wallace, Morrison & Casteel LLP located in
Atlanta, Georgia, concentrating in trusts and estates law.
He has practiced law in Atlanta for 49 years, 45 of which
were with King & Spalding. He is a graduate of Princeton
University and Harvard Law School.
Mr. Wallace has been a frequent lecturer and panel member
at many national tax institutes, conferences and other
continuing education programs. He served as an adjunct
professor at Emory University Law School between 1977 and
1987, teaching the Advanced Estate Planning course in the
Graduate Tax Program.
His most recent publications include "Selected Post-Death
Problems of Partnerships and Partners," 1981 Southern
California Tax Institute, "Estate Tax Deferral: Does
Postponement Produce Panacea or Perplexity," 1982 Miami
Estate Planning Institute, and "Now You See It, Now You
Don't -- Valuation Conundrums in Estate Planning," 1990

Mr. Wallace is a Past President of The American College
of Trust and Estate Counsel and Past Chair of the Section of
Real Property, Probate and Trust Law of the American Bar
Association. He is a member of the International Academy of
Estate and Trust Law, the American College of Tax Counsel,
the American Law Institute and the American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Wallace is a Past Chairman of the Fiduciary Law Section
of the State Bar of Georgia and a Past President of both the
Southern Pension Conference and the Atlanta Estate Planning
Council, Inc.
In 2005, he received the Verner F. Chaffin Career Service
Award in recognition of a distinguished career of
outstanding, dedicated service to the Fiduciary Law Section
of the State Bar of Georgia. He most recently was honored as
the 2011 Lawyer of the Year in Trusts & Estates by U.S. News
Best Lawyers. He also has been recognized for decades as one
of Atlanta's "Legal Elite" by Georgia Trend Magazine and as
a Georgia "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine.
Mr. Wallace currently serves on the Board of Trustees of
Morehouse College and the Georgia Historical Society, and is
an Emeritus Trustee of The Westminster Schools, all of which
are located in the Atlanta area. He has previously served on
the Board of Trustees of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra
League, Fernbank Museum of Natural History, Piedmont
Healthcare, Inc., The Piedmont Clinic, Southern Catholic
College and Georgia Eye Bank, Inc., all in or near Atlanta,
as well as The Loomis Chaffee School, Windsor Connecticut,
and The Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut. |
