The application must be either typed or printed in
ink. A check must accompany the submission and the application
fee is non-refundable. Applicants who are members of an
affiliated local council of the National Association of Estate
Planners & Councils or who have submitted an application for
membership in an affiliated local council are eligible for the
discounted certification fee. (See a list of
affiliated local councils.)
Applications must be received in the form of a
hard copy—a fax will not be accepted.
The certification process must be completed
within two years of the date that the application is received. An
applicant who has not fully completed an application, passed the
exam or has had references that have failed to reply will have his
or her file closed and must reapply in order to continue with the
certification process. No fees will be refunded.
An applicant may take the examination even if
the application is not complete but will not be certified as a
specialist until all requirements have been met.
