NAEPC President's Message
Greetings.
Welcome to the official website of the National Association of Estate Planners &
Councils (“NAEPC”), the association of choice for estate planning professionals.
If you are looking for an estate planner, you have come to the right place. We
can connect you with an estate planner who has recognized, earned credentials
and is a member in good standing of a local estate planning council.
We maintain a database, available to you in this site, of
Accredited Estate Planners
(“AEPs”) who adhere to the concept of the team approach of estate planners so
that your plan may be considered by a team of professionals of your choosing
from the disciplines of attorney, accountant, life underwriter, trust officer
and financial consultant. AEPs must earn and maintain, in good standing, a
gateway credential in their designated professional discipline as an Attorney,
Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Trust and
Financial Advisor, Chartered Financial Consultant or Chartered Financial
Planner, and then must meet NAEPC's stringent criteria of continuing education,
experience, proven knowledge and peer review.
We make it easy for you to
find an AEP with one of these six gateway credentials and put together your
own team to be sure each relevant area of expertise is brought to bear on your
personal estate plan. You choose the extent of involvement you want your team
members to have. The choice is always yours. You are in control, but “we're here
to help you.” Seriously.
If you are an estate planning professional, we extend an invitation to you to
learn more about our over 200 affiliated local estate planning councils and
their over 26,000 individual members. Local affiliated councils are required to
have members representing, at least, the four primary disciplines of attorney,
accountant, trust officer and life underwriter. Many councils include other
disciplines, such as financial planners and planned giving specialists. See if
you meet the high standards of membership and become involved in a local estate
planning council. You can find a council in your
area using this site. You will learn and improve your ability to better
serve your clients if you join and participate.
NAEPC has several continuing goals to increase the educational opportunities
for the members of our affiliated local councils and the general public which
they serve. We will soon launch Estate Planning Day in a Box (Digital Format) so
local councils will have up-to-date, relevant materials with which to hold an
“Estate Planning Day” seminar for the general public to increase public
awareness of the need for, and benefits of, estate planning. It's not all about
taxes! Everyone wants the fruits of their labors to be enjoyed by the objects of
their bounty—their family members of the next generation, or multiple
generations, or favorite charities. NAEPC has the right people to get the job
done and our affiliated NAEPC Foundation is paving
the way in education regarding all aspects of estate planning for professional
estate planners and the public they serve. Our national
annual conference is among the best in the
country. If you are not a regular attendee, you are cheating yourself and your
clients. We also continue to expand the availability of top-notch
speakers for local council programs. If your council
needs professional education programs, “we're here to help you.” Seriously.
We will continue to pursue our Mission with vigor
in order to fulfill our Vision. I look forward to
working with you all this next year.
Very truly yours,

Walter Lee Davis, Jr.
